TSN.cas 2013 Play of the Year Showdown continues with a pair of incredibly impressive plays that involve hand-eye coordination and baseball swings. Columbus Blue Jackets forward Marian Gaborik goes up against the talented youngster from the Edmonton Oilers, Magnus Paajarvi. Gaboriks POY entry starts with some serious breakaway speed, as Gaborik pulls away from the Bruins defender, he gets enough space to get a shot off, which is saved easily by Bostons net minder Tuukka Rask. The POY part of this play however, is what happens next; as the puck floats in front of him, Gaborik uses some serious hand-eye coordination to get the puck to the back of the net and win the game for his team (at that time the Rangers) in overtime. Paajarvis POY nomination is also a notable feat of fast thinking and dexterity. The youngster uses his wheels to bring the puck towards the net from the outside, beating his man to the lane, he cuts across the slot and rips a shot that Colorados Semyon Varlamov stops, but like Gaboriks goal, it is the rebound that provides the setup for the POY candidate. As the puck flutters through the air, Paajarvi uses some quick thinking and heaps of skill as he knocks the puck past a stupefied Varlamov.
