I recently had an interesting discussion with a friend while having breakfast. We started talking about a few teams that underachieved last season. That led me to think about teams that missed the NCAA tournament last season that should bounce back in the 2016-17 season. Here are six schools that missed the tournament last season. I believe these six will be in the hunt for NCAA bids this time around. (Records are from last season).Florida State Seminoles (20-14) It is not easy to move up in the ACC, but I think Leonard Hamiltons team will. It helps to have veterans Dwayne Bacon and Xavier Rathan-Mayes back, plus some incoming talent and size up front.Ohio State Buckeyes (21-14) Thad Matta should have the Buckeyes back on track. He has four players that averaged double-figures in scoring returning, led by JaeSean Tate and Marc Loving.San Diego State Aztecs (28-10) Steve Fishers team should be among the best in the Mountain West. Fisher had to be happy when Malik Pope withdrew from the NBA draft. He also has top scorer Trey Kell back in the fold. The Aztecs also add several prominent transfers.UCLA Bruins (15-17) Steve Alfords squad should bounce back after finishing below .500 last season due to a rugged schedule. Bryce Alford will be back to shoot the trifecta, and there are great expectations for diaper dandies Lonzo Ball at the point and power forward T. J. Leaf.Florida Gators (21-15) Mike White has things going in the right direction. KeVaughn Allen is expected to put up solid numbers, and the addition of transfer Canyon Barry from the College of Charleston will provide a big boost.Saint Marys Gaels (29-6) I was really impressed with Randy Bennetts team when I called the WCC tournament semifinals and finals. Bennett has an experienced nucleus returning and I felt they belonged in the dance last season, even after losing to Gonzaga. There you have it.
