With the NBA draft just hours away, teams are going over their final draft lists, seeing which prospects they like, which they dont, and hoping to find the next star. With plenty of potential trades still in the works there are a lot of picks still up in the air, but lets take a look and see how things might shake out in our final 2013 TSN.ca NBA Mock Draft. 1. Cleveland Cavaliers - C Nerlens Noel - Kentucky Analysis: The Cavaliers are still shopping this pick and will likely continue to do so until the bitter end. By the sounds of things, the Cavs asking price is too high though and they will likely keep the top pick. Noel has the most long term potential which makes him the best bet to be taken first. He is long, athletic, brings a great defensive presence and is getting better offensively. Reports also indicate that the rehab on his surgically repaired knee is going well. 2. Orlando Magic - SF Victor Oladipo - Indiana Analysis: This pick is by no means a slam dunk. If the Cavs pass on Noel, the Magic likely take him. And if the Cavs do take Noel, Ben McLemore could easily be chosen here. But Oladipo is much more of a sure thing than McLemore (or almost anyone for that matter) which will likely sway the Magic. The crazy athletic Indiana swingman has a terrific motor and can have an immediate impact, particularly on the defensive end. 3. Washington Wizards - SF Otto Porter Jr. - Georgetown Analysis: Picking Porter third just makes sense for the Wizards. He has a local connection having gone to college at Georgetown and would fit in well with the Wizards young team. He has great length for the wing, a great mid-range game and is a good facilitator. And, outside of Oladipo he might be the drafts most sure bet to succeed. 4. Charlotte Bobcats - PF Anthony Bennett - UNLV Analysis: Bennetts polished offensive game would be a nice complement to Michael Kidd-Gilchrists raw athleticism for the Bobcats. Bennett can play in the post or stretch floor on the wing. The Canadian is a tad undersized but is super athletic and most importantly is NBA ready. 5. Phoenix Suns - SG Ben McLemore - Kansas Analysis: They may have missed out on the top four, but its not all bad for the rebuilding Suns. Despite inconsistent workouts, McLemore has tremendous potential and might end up being the best player in the draft. The Suns are in need of a shooter and McLemore might be the best in the draft in that department with a quick release and excellent range. Teams are unsure of him him though and the Suns might let McLemore slide and opt for a big man like Alex Len. 6. New Orleans Pelicans - C Alex Len - Maryland Analysis: Marlyands skilled big man would be a nice addition to the Pelicans young core. He is a good athlete for a player his size and brings solid reboudning and shot-blocking. He also has a nice touch and is a good passer from the post. Alongside Anthony Davis, this could be the makings of a very formidable frontcourt 7. Sacramento Kings - PG Trey Burke - Michigan Analysis: Nobody seems quite sure what the Kings are planning to do on draft day. But the fact is, they need a point guard and while Burke is a bit undersized, he is very strong and has terrific court vision. The Kings need someone who can provide on court leadership with a bit of swagger and Burke can. 8. Detroit Pistons - G C.J. McCollum - Lehigh Analysis: McCollum is a versatile combo guard that checks off a lot boxes with his skill set. He can play both the point and the two. He is very good scorer with nice range and is excellent in transition. He is also an effective playmaker and a good rebounder for a guard. 9. Minnesota Timberwolves - SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - Georgia Analysis: Caldwell-Pope looks like your prototypical NBA shooting guard. He is a very good athlete and a way better shooter than he showed at the combine. Minnesota could use the shooting and scoring depth and Caldwell-Pope would give them that. He also has good defensive potential and a great basketball IQ. Word is, TWolves president Flip Sanders loves him too. 10. Portland Trail Blazers - PG Michael Carter-Williams - Syracuse Analysis: Didnt the the Trail Blazers just draft a point guard last year who turned out to be pretty darn good? Yeah, but already having Damian Lillard wouldnt make Carter-Williams redundant. They are very different palyers. At 66, Carter-Williams has excellent height for an NBA point guard, has excellent court vision and would have no trouble playing alongside Lillard who is a more dynamic scorer.
