INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts owner Jim Irsay acknowledged Tuesday that the offensive lines performance against the Philadelphia Eagles?in its third preseason game was alarming.The Colts went into that game on Aug. 27 with the intentions of playing starting quarterback Andrew Luck into the third quarter. But the offensive line, which started four of its five intended starters, was so poor in its protection that coach Chuck Pagano didnt play Luck in the second half. Pagano said after the game that the lines performance impacted his decision to sit his quarterback. Luck was hit or sacked on nine of his 21 dropbacks in the first half.The Eagle game was concerning, and until we prove otherwise, were going to be tested every play, Irsay said at a charity golf event that was hosted at the teams complex. We protect Andrew, good things are going to happen.The offensive line has been an ongoing problem for the Colts since they selected Luck with the No. 1 pick in 2012. Luck missed nine games due to injuries last season, and the Colts used a total of five quarterbacks in his place. Three of Indianapolis quarterbacks -- Luck, Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst -- suffered season-ending injuries.
