Tony Stewart will take anything he can over the final 17 races of the Sprint Cup season. Hes not in a giving mood. And why should he be?That approach already started over the last few events, and the Brickyard 400 Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway will include another afternoon of taking everything he can get -- and enter another dimension.Stewart, an Indiana native, will try to take in the entire atmosphere of his final Brickyard 400.Its a big weekend, obviously, Stewart said. Im not going to downplay it, because its one of the most important weekends of the year for me being at home and racing in front of friends and family for the last time there.Itll be an emotional weekend for sure, but Ive got a plan on how Im going to approach the weekend, and Im just going to stick to that plan and go about our work.Born in Rushville, Indiana, and living about 50 miles away in Columbus, the driver once known as the Rushville Rocket has his roots in IndyCar racing. He competed in the Indianapolis 500 five times, with a best of fifth, and won the 1997 IndyCar title.In an 18-year Sprint Cup career, Stewart has 49 victories, including two in the Brickyard 400. This will be his last race there; he announced last fall that 2016 would be his final Sprint Cup season.Despite missing the first eight races of 2016 with a broken back, Stewart sits comfortably in the Chase thanks to a win at Sonoma and a current 67-point cushion on 31st.Stewart has a first-, second- and fifth-place finish in three of the past four races. His second-place finish Sunday at New Hampshire included him rallying from 18th at one point and being sixth on a restart with 11 laps remaining.I can promise you, I wont leave anything on the table [at Indy], Stewart said. But I havent been leaving anything on the table anyway. What do I have to lose here? I dont have anything to lose. Were going to go get everything we can get out of it, and well take what we get at the end of the day.Were going to fight and claw and scrap and scrape like everybody else. As owner of Eldora Speedway, Stewart will be working and focused on making sure the track has a smooth Camping World Truck Series race Wednesday night.Any distraction is a nice distraction from now until Friday morning, Stewart said.Stewart actually will get an unexpected distraction at Indianapolis: Jeff Gordon driving the No. 88 car for an ailing Dale Earnhardt Jr. , which will take away at least a little bit of the focus on Stewart.Earnhardt continues to battle balance issues and nausea likely related to concussions.Stewart will gladly see the spotlight shift to adopted Indiana son Gordon while obviously wishing that Earnhardt gets better.I dont need the spotlight on me, Stewart said.
