Gus Poyet has been unveiled as the new head coach of La Liga side Real Betis on a two-year deal. Poyet had been in charge of Greek side AEK Athens, but the 47-year-old was recently labelled as immoral by owner Dimitris Melissanidis after announcing he would be leaving at the end of the season.The former Brighton and Sunderland manager will take over a Betis side currently 14th in Spains top division, and safe from relegation with only one game remaining in the season. Poyet had been reportedly linked with a return to England and was, at one point, favourite to take over as Nottingham Forest manager.He will take over from interim boss Juan Merino, who takes charge of his final game against Getafe on Sunday when the Spanish season comes to a close.
